  53. DESCRIPTION

  55. Mac CallerID¬© is a shareware application that will display and
  56. store specific information provided by your local telephone
  57. company.  You must subscribe to your local telephone company‚Äôs
  58. ‚Äúcaller information and identification service,‚Äù commonly known
  59. as Caller ID.   This application is similar to the Caller ID
  60. boxes available in many stores, but is available at a fraction
  61. of the cost.  A lot of work went into the application, and
  62. hopefully you will agree that it is worth the nominal fee or
  63. more.

  65. The caller's name, number, date and time can be displayed as
  66. a single call or in a list of all calls.  Mac CallerID should
  67. work in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Sweden.

  69. Mac CallerID¬©  REQUIRES THAT YOU ARE IN AN AREA WHERE CALLER ID
  70. IS AVAILABLE, YOU ARE A SUBSCRIBER AND HAVE A MODEM THAT
  71. SUPPORTS CALLER ID.

  74. What is Caller ID?
  75.  
  76. Caller ID is a way for you to determine who is calling before
  77. you answer the phone.  Between the first and second rings,
  78. the phone company sends information about who is calling.
  79. Not all the information is always available, many times the
  80. call might have originated from an area that does not support
  81. Caller ID.  At other times the call may be blocked by the
  82. calling party.

  94. Mac CallerID¬©  - STANDARD FEATURES (UNREGISTERED VERSION)
  95. ‚Ä¢  Mac CallerID¬© displays the complete telephone number, name,
  96.             area code, time and date of the call.
  97. ‚Ä¢  It can display a single call or a list of all calls.  All 
  98.    available information will be displayed.  Calls that have no 
  99.    data will not be displayed.
  100. ‚Ä¢  Calls with phone numbers can be dialed via the Macintosh
  101.    speaker or through the modem.
  102. ‚Ä¢  The Mac CallerID¬© database can be read into ClarisWorks or
  103.    another similar application to create an instant database of
  104.    callers.
  105. ‚Ä¢  New calls will be displayed automatically, you will be
  106.    notified by the flashing new call indicator in the top right
  107.    hand corner of the window.  Clicking any button or the new
  108.    call indicator will stop the indicator from flashing.
  109. ‚Ä¢  Metro Dialing Option, this enables you to dial a number that
  110.    requires an area code but does not need a 1 in front of the
  111.    number.  
  112. ‚Ä¢  Works in the United States, Sweden, and Canada.  Tested in the
  113.    following Canadian Provinces: Manitoba, Saskatchewan,
  114.    and Ontario.
  115. ‚Ä¢  Works with Supra, Zyxel, Motorola, some Global Village,
  116.    and PowerBit modems.

  120. ‚Ä¢  Printing a single call or a list of all calls.
  121. ‚Ä¢  SubstituteCaller.  When a call comes in with a telephone
  122.    number and no name, Mac CallerID¬©  will attach the specified
  123.    name.
  124. ‚Ä¢  Find the next or previous occurrence of a name, phone
  125.    number or date in the database.
  126. ‚Ä¢  Many "Core" Apple Events are supported.  Supported events
  127.    from the "Core" suite are: count, delete, get data, get data
  128.    size.
  129.    Note "DELETE" will delete the specified call without
  130.    prompting the user.
  131.    Miscellaneous AppleEvents: InitModem and ReleaseModem.
  132. ‚Ä¢  Copy the currently displayed or selected caller information
  133.    to the clipboard.
  134. ‚Ä¢  PREFERENCES FEATURES:
  135.             ‚Ä¢  Replace displayed name with user specified name.
  136.       For example if a call comes in with XYZ company
  137.       303 123-1234, you can specify that the name be replaced
  138.       with Mr. Nobody.  This is done by adding the name and
  139.       number to the "SubstituteCaller" dialog.
  140.    ‚Ä¢  Hide or shrink the Mac CallerID¬©  window when the
  141.       application is in the background. 
  142.    ‚Ä¢  Bring Mac CallerID¬©  to the front when a call comes in.
  143.    ‚Ä¢  Delete all calls that do not have a number when quitting
  144.       the application.
  145.    ‚Ä¢  Delete all calls when quitting the application.
  146.    ‚Ä¢  Display the single or all calls view when starting
  147.       Mac CallerID¬© .
  148.    ‚Ä¢  Speak the name or number of the caller. 
  149.       Note you must have the Speech Manager Extension installed
  150.       to use this feature.
  151.    ‚Ä¢  Launch a specified application when a new call
  152.       comes in.
